A WELCOME MESSAGE FROM GINA
Thank you for taking the time to read about me and my work. I appreciate it can be a daunting task looking for the right counsellor and whether our work is short term or long term the relationship you have with your counsellor is instrumental for any change to take place.
I welcome you to get in touch so you have the opportunity to meet with me and we can discuss what brings you to counselling and how I may be able to help you.
I hope the following overview will give you a brief insight into my passion and commitment to my work and my desire to help you achieve the life you wish to have.
I regularly commit to reading and various courses to keep me up to date with my work. Since the Covid-19 pandemic I committed to a course with the Academy for Online Counselling and Psychotherapy to complete their General Certificate to provide me with a more robust understanding of how to deliver my work safely and efficiently online, which I passed with distinction.
WHY CHOOSE COUNSELLING?
Life can be challenging at times whether it is relationships, work or bereavement. Sometimes people tell me they don't seem to feel anything and others tell me they find their feelings such as anxiety, sadness and grief quite overwhelming and difficult to cope with. We are all unique and it is our own individual experience that is important.
By having someone to talk to in confidence who is non-biased and there just for you can feel like a great support and relief. As an experienced counsellor I can work with you to help you find a way forwards. Counselling can be a wonderful opportunity to explore and understand ourselves further. Sometimes it really helps to talk to someone who is non-judgemental and listens to you with empathy and an understanding ear.
WHERE DO THE SESSIONS TAKE PLACE?
I work in private practice from my ground floor office at my home near the centre of Fareham. However, due to the pandemic I have taken the bold decision to only work online using a video link via Zoom.

Transactional Analysis (TA)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
My counsellor training has provided me with the opportunity to work with the Specialist Humanistic Therapy ... Expressive Creative Therapies, which I find remarkable to work with, especially in helping to explore a “stuckness”. The great thing about creative therapy is that you do not have to be good at drawing or art. There are many different therapeutic approaches to counselIing and psychotherapy. The modality I have been trained in is the Humanistic School and is described on the BACP website as:
This approach focuses on the individual as a whole. It encourages people to think about their feelings and take responsibility for their thoughts and actions. The emphasis is on self-development and achieving your highest potential rather than on problematic behaviour. Gestalt therapy, person-centred therapy, transactional analysis and transpersonal therapy are all humanistic approaches.

I am insured and have an enhanced DBS certificate.
