A WELCOME MESSAGE FROM GINA
Thank you for taking the time to read about me and my work. I appreciate it can be a daunting task looking for the right counsellor whether our work is short term or long term the relationship you have with your counsellor is instrumental for any change to take place.
WHY CHOOSE COUNSELLING?
Whatever your reasons for wanting counselling, whether your feelings and emotions are getting you down or stopping you from doing things, or if something is on your mind and you are finding it difficult to see things clearly. It maybe that you would like to work on your confidence and self-esteem or perhaps you have a problem that may be helped by talking to an unbiased professional counsellor. There are so many differing and varying reasons why people look for a counsellor.
Counselling can be a wonderful opportunity to explore and understand ourselves further. Sometimes it really helps talking confidentially to someone who is non-judgemental and is there just for you, to listen to you with empathy and an understanding ear.
WHERE DO THE SESSIONS TAKE PLACE?
I work in private practice and normally see clients from my ground floor office at my home near the centre of Fareham. However, due to the Coronavirus I have suspended all face to face work from home in an effort to limit the spread of the virus. I am therefore offering my counselling services on a video link via Zoom.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
I work with individuals over the age of 16.
If you have any questions or would like to book a session, then I welcome you to get in touch. Either call or text me on 07765 045 080 - please be prepared to leave a message as I may be with a client and I will call you back as soon as I can.
Your first session will be a no obligation assessment and will give you the opportunity to meet with me to discuss your reasons for coming to counselling and what you would like our work to focus on.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Prior to my counselling course, I worked in Personal Development since 2004 mainly helping to coach and support clients to lose weight. For many years I have frequently attended and continue to attend CPD (continued professional development) courses and workshops. My counsellor training has provided me with the opportunity to work with the Specialist Humanistic Therapy ... Expressive Creative Therapies, which I find remarkable to work with, especially in helping to explore a “stuckness”. The great thing about creative therapy is that you do not have to be good at drawing or art. There are many different therapeutic approaches to counselIing and psychotherapy. The modality I have been trained in is the Humanistic School and is described on the BACP website as:
This approach focuses on the individual as a whole. It encourages people to think about their feelings and take responsibility for their thoughts and actions. The emphasis is on self-development and achieving your highest potential rather than on problematic behaviour. Gestalt therapy, person-centred therapy, transactional analysis and transpersonal therapy are all humanistic approaches.
